Walk the Line

After watching part of the movie today, I thought it was interesting how we perceive country music from the past to be toned down, yet there were 14 year old girls throwing themselves at Johnny Cash in the film and girls were shaking their hips to the music. I was so disappointed when he kissed the girl in his dressing room. Not only because she appeared to be extremely young, but because out of the people in the crowd, she was the prettiest one. It was very shallow to me, which is probably how the director wanted to portray it in the film.
It also surprised me how wild the crowd went while the performers were relatively still on stage. It makes me laugh at shows today when the performers on stage go crazy and the crowd is standing perfectly still. One of the main elements of concerts today that people judge the stage performance, but it didn't seem to matter in the film, the crowd still went wild. Instead of going to have fun at shows today, it seems like people are looking to be entertained. Okay, this is a huge generalization, but I always like to have fun at shows instead of just standing still, I like to entertain myself to the music and whenever I go with friends, they like to sit back and enjoy the show. So I'm not saying in all cases, just in my own experience.
