Walk the Line and other stuff

I like this movie. I have seen it before and it never ceases to entertain me in a non-entertaining way. You know for a fact Jerry Lee Lewis never makes it with June. . . she's not related nor young enough for him!! We all know and love Johnny Cash and this movie gives us a different perspective in his life. I remember when the movie first came out hearing something about how Joaquin Phoenix did his own singing or summit like that. The slew of movies we've watched along with other movies entertain me because it's actors that you didn't know could sing that actually don't do a half bad job!! Probably the movie that most highlights this is Moulin Rouge. Nicole Kidman singing? Ummm. . . yes. Ewan McGregor singing? Ummmm. . . yeah actually. Who would have known that he could do something other then acting as a Scottish Junkie (Trainspotting!!) Of course not all the actors that star in singing roles are screen to sing crossovers. The true can be said of singers that cross over into the realm of cinema. Case in point, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. Granted it can be said one has more acting talent then the other >cough, cough< Beyonce tends to appear mainly in roles that require someone with a good voice whereas Jennifer Lopez has only been in a few roles that require singing. Look at Bette Midler and Barbara Streisand. Both of these ladies crossed over successfully!! In the golden era of Hollywood many of the actresses and actors had to be able to both sing and act. They were jacks of all trades. We've been to specified in the roles in Hollywood. Today if someone can both act and sing they're something special. In the early ages of Hollywood if you couldn't act and sing you were the oddball. I really dislike modern Hollywood for the most part for this reason. It's become all about sex appeal not about actual talent (Megan Fox anyone?). I lament everything that Hollywood has lost.
