The British invasion
The British invasion seems to be perhaps one of the most important events in American popular music. Bands like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Who crossed the pond and took America by storm. Although they were popular over 4 decades ago, the members of these bands still remain in the news today, which shows just how popular and influential they are. Paul McCartney has been in the news recently following his expensive divorce from Heather Mills. The divorce was all over the news because Mills was asking for $300 million from McCartney, who believed she should only get a fraction of that. In the end, the divorce cost McCartney $48.7 million, in addition to incurring costs for their daughter's schooling. McCartney's other daughter is also in the news recently because she is a successful fashion designer. Mick Jagger also seems as if he won't be going away anytime soon, especially because he has been linked to several A-list actresses, including Angelina Jolie. Keith Richards has been in the news recently, due in large part to Johnny Depp who stated that he used the musician as inspiration for his Pirates of the Caribbean character, which shows how influential Richards is. America is still fascinated by these musicians, even though a large number of them have stopped making music.
