Stolen songs
When we began the semester, i knew next to nothing about American music. But when we started learning about how african-american artists had there songs stolen, i became disappointed and saddened. Finding out Hound dog belonged to Big Mama Thorton and not Elvis, that the beach boys stole Chuck Berry's music, and this week we learned that Shake, Rattle and Roll was another song stolen from Joe Turner. Learning this was very dissapointing to find out, that classic songs of American Music history were stolen, and that very few people even know that (including me before this class). It makes you wonder, how many great songs from our music history were stolen and we don't even know about?
