I think MTV had a huge role in promoting music through their television program. They would play popular music and their videos which gave watchers a chance to see and hear the music which then lead to bands and artists gaining popularity. I think music videos are great when it comes music because they show a "story" of the lyrics instead of just listening to the music people can view it instead. It gives an opportunity to have things cleared up maybe about the message that the video is trying to portray. I also think its fun as well because not only do many bands and artists sing but they also dance and have cool choreography. Even though MTV was racist in the beginning by not playing certain music i think that in the end by overcoming that it helped out their program tremendously.
