Electric Guitar

Electric guitar in the 1950's were played completely differently than they are today. The electric guitars today use many effects such as distortion, overdrive, chorus, sustain, wah-wah, and the list goes on. The amplifiers today are much larger also. It was cool to see the rise of electric guitar in the 50's and see how different it is today. Back then, the guitar was usually just amplified and played clean with no effects. Today, these effects are a necessity for creating each bands own sound.
The first people to play electric guitar still played it like an acoustic; different open chords and barr chords. Most modern electric guitarists use different scales at much faster tempos over this acoustic style playing to create harmony and a deeper sound to the music than just having a bass in the background. In the 60's and 70's, bands such as Led Zeppelin would use as many as 7 electric guitars in their music, giving it a completely genuine sound. This was only a decade or so after electric guitar starting gaining spotlight! I think that it is going to be interesting to see how the guitarists and also the technology associated with electric guitar is going to develop in the future.
