Disability

Having a learning disability puts me at a disadvantage sometimes in other peoples eyes. I was first diagnosed with a learning disability by a licenced psychologist who performed some sort of IQ test to determine my disability. When the results were done the doctor told me he didn't think it was a good idea for me to attend college. When hearing this from this particular doctor it kind of crushed my dreams. This doctor had recommended that I should go to school and learn a skill trade. This really hurt my confidence as a person therefore, I didn't give up on my dream of being enrolled in the School of Management at a University.
This doctor has prepared a memo of all the academic disabilities he says I have. These memos have to be turned into all my instructors in order for me to receive double test taking time and a note taker. In my eyes you cant base my intelligence on a test. Some people look at me as being dumb or stupid but I know I am not dumb or stupid. This is why I work hard to prove to myself that I can be successful in my academics, career, and my personal life. Society try to put people with disabilities down and also judge them.
