Stones vs Beatles

The Stones and the Beatles were two of the most influential and popular bands of the 60's. They both had very important roles in popularizing rock. I think the reason people have a tendency to choose one over the other is a matter of personal preference and the fact that they were in competition with one another. As two of the leading bands, they were constantly trying to out do one another. Many of their albums and concepts were extremely similar. It seems they were working off one another. The white album and the beggars banquet for example came out the same year and were both white album covers with the title only. This happened not only with albums but song titles, lyrics, song structure, ect. Whenever two companies, bands, (or anything really) compete, people have a tendency to choose one over the other. Its like McDonalds and Burger King or anything else, of course people are going to prefer one over the other.
