Seeing record labels take advantage of people, black people in particular made me think about if this kind of thing still happens today. I started to think about this a couple weeks ago, but watching Ray made me wonder more about it. I would think it would be a no brainer, but I can't find any specific examples of how people of color in the music industry are being taken advantage of today by white executives. With major records like black swan and okeh records putting out race records, I would assume that the major players were black Americans who were CEO's and executives.
I started to think of the hip hop group NWA who were put together by white people and seemed to exploit them for a profit. I would think this would still happen. If it does, I don't know why more attention isn't brought upon this because I see it as a major issue. When someone first told me about NWA, I was angry and I was upset that I didn't hear about it before. Of course, people of color are taken advantage of all the time, so it isn't a big surprise, but it seems like more people would have a problem with it than what it seems.
