I think honky tonk performers of the country music family are the least concerned about the 'family values' that the genre had so emphasised. I think it is less restrictive in the way the songs are performed and instead of family values, the lyrics are more reflective of the hardships that bluecollar workers were going through in that period.
i would say hank Williams was the most representative performer of honky tonk, not only by his singing, but also his vision to be free led to a lifestyle that resulted his death at the age of 29.
