Disability in shows

After watching the clip of 'glee' and reading the article, actor Robert David Hall comes to my mind almost immediately. He is the actor who portrays the disabled-specific role coroner in CSI, and he himself is a person with disability. He was involved in a car crash and both his legs were amuptated as a result he uses prosthetics.

The article mentioned about 'crip drag' and how it is 'not including people with disability', and for the case of actor robert hall, it is a very good illustration of how it can be the other way round. Also the arcticle mentioned a common arugment for not including minorites or people with disability is that "no one wants to watch them'. Actor Robert Hall proves that common argument wrong. His role became so popular that the producers expanded his role as a regular for the show.

i think CSI did a good job because the disabled coroner's importance to the show is not "tokenized' like 'glee', he is genuinely included. We can see the a person with disability is not so much different from us and is very much a part of the society. Also i like the way the role in CSI is not portrayed like alot of the show like glee with character with disability tend to portray them as weird people, which are very distasteful. The role in CSI is very likable, and in one episode, he actually intervened an attack to another character, saving the person. It really shows how people with disability should be portayed in shows.
