Michael Jackson
I completely agree with the thought that Michael Jackson became more famous after his death. I found it really hard to take him seriously when he was alive because there was so much controversy surrounding his life, so I was never really interested in his music. It was hard to focus on just his music when spoofs about his life were everywhere from Scary Movie to Eminem’s “Just Lose It” music video. Everyone picked him apart for his appearance, like his change in skin color, which nobody believed was because of a medical condition, and his numerous nose jobs. His life was so controversial that I was more interested in his personal life than his music. Then he died and there was controversy around his death. I actually took the time to listen to his music after he died and realized that he really is an incredibly talented artist and he absolutely deserves the title of the King of Pop. Nobody else has ever come close to Michael Jackson’s success and I honestly don’t see anyone in the near future doing so. He attempted to break racial divides by collaborating with some of the most talented white musicians and he revolutionized the concept of music videos. He was such an interesting man, but his music is really what makes him the King of Pop.
