Edryes

I enjoyed his (Edryes') presentation on Hip-Hop yesterday and what it meant to him. I do not not know too much about hip-hop and its roots, but I knew there was good hip-hop and bad hip-hop, just like all music. I have heard that there are three components to hip-hop. They are the dancing (break dancing), the graffiti, and the MC or DJ. It used to be more about the dancing and graffiti, but the DJs and MCs wanted more recognition, so they branched off sort of. I liked to see Edryes' artwork in his video "Get Free." I loved his passion for the subject and the stories he shared. He really is just doing it because he loves it. He puts his family first and his music second. It seems like his musical decisions are greatly influenced by his family. If his family does not want to travel, then he will not. I also liked how he said that he does not have to do any music that he doesn't want. Where as the big artists don't have as much say as to what they produce.
