I know that we haven't discussed the Tina Turner and Ike Turner era but after watching the movie time and time again and once again last night I started to think about how in every movie made about an artist during his/her time drugs and alcohol and sometimes domestic abuse seems to play a role in their being. I understand that the movies made about these people try to give you the real deal on how things really were and how they really lived there life but seeing the way some of these artists lived their life was really a turn off for me. Especially Ike Turner. Glad i wasn't around when he was around because one thing i do not condone is violence. doesnt matter if its man beating woman or woman beating man (believe it or not it does happen and it is a problem in society).
I would of never thought being on the outside looking in that Ray Charles was one to use drugs the way that he did. I would of never thought that a man like Ray Charles would have a temper (as shown when he was either fighting for his money or pushing someone out of his way) I wonder if the drug use influenced his behavior. But Ray and What's Love Got To Do With It arent the only movies in which you see an artist using and drugs. You have Nortorious B.I.G, Why Do Fools Fall In Love and many more. I guess with the record deal and the signing of some contracts comes a bag of pot.

Interesting points Stephanie-and just wait until we watch Cadillac Records and Walk the Line-a lot of alcohol and drug abuse in both films.
